* Yes "modest mansions" of 1000 sq. ft. are generally "ecological" because
the bigger the house--the greater use of resources--the greater the use of
pesticides--the greater the use of petroleum products for shipping etc. etc.
Contact Michael Philips in San Francisco for his essay on the subject "the
richer you are the more you consume, the more you pollute"

* Engineered wood products are probably as ecological as any material-- did
you know that a Portland Cement Plant puts 3000 tons of lead into the air
every year!

* Rudolf Dornach's (the inventor of the geodesic dome) research shows that we
folk have mainly lived in wooden buildings because wood is semi-conductive
allowing the air in the home to be negatively charged--easier to breathe than
positively charged air.
