Thanks to Russell for passing on the definition of the eco-village. Next question is how that differs from cohousing and how that differs from "planned community" and etc. We have our usual cultural proclivity to catagorize things endlessly. Sometimes this practice is meaningful and worthwhile and sometimes it's just a species of obfuscation. I was looking for a generic word for a close-knit group of people cooperating more than competing that would encompass all of the above for my novel. I invented the word "flome" which I said was an abbreviation for "full home" -- an environment where several families cooperated in whatever way made sense, but where the feeling was of an extended family -- up to 100 persons or so. Is this useful? Mike M.
