What follows is the Call for Presentations for the North American CoHousing
Conference
(end of September in Boulder). Sorry for the late posting--please get it
back to us ASAP.
(Please print this and fill in, or fill in on the computer and then
print--either way, please return
to us by snail mail--you can email us that it's coming.) (This was mailed
out to last year's
attendees, all the CoHousing communities we know about, etc. a while
back--so hopefully
most of you already received it.) Thanks very much--looking forward to
seeing many of you
here (as presenters or not).

1995 North American CoHousing Conference
Concepts, Construction, Community: Expanding the Vision
September 28 - October 1, 1995
Call for Presentations
Over the past eight years, the CoHousing movement has grown tremendously.
This conference is designed to expand and accelerate that process. This
years' conference will be organized around three different "Tracks".
1. First Steps - will cover issues related to groups and individuals just
beginning the process. We are looking for topics dealing with issues that
include CoHousing basics, forming a group, group decision making, creating a
collective vision, values clarification and finding a site.
2. Getting it Built - will focus on the issues related to designing,
financing, marketing and constructing CoHousing communities. Presentations
might include traditional and innovative financing, energy efficient design,
affordability, building membership, creative marketing strategies, resident
diversity, working with professionals, renovating existing buildings, sacred
architecture, ownership models, planning for children, and designing for
special populations.
3. Living In Community - will focus on the joys and challenges of actually
living in our communities. Presentations could include, raising children in
community, eating and dining, dealing with visitors, growing old together,
community turnover, and community celebrations.
We are open to individual as well as panel presentations and group
discussions. It is very likely that we will again create several panels to
address these topics. Please be as creative as you like. Presentation length
should range from 30-60 minutes including time for Q & A. The slide
presentations on Thursday evening will be STRICTLY limited to 10 slides or a
maximum of a 10 minute presentation.
The conference will begin at 7:00 pm Thursday, September 28th with a series
of short slide presentations followed by a reception. Full presentations and
panels will begin Friday morning , September 29th and continue through Sunday
morning, October 1st with a final closing at 1:00 pm.
Unfortunately we can not give free admissions and still keep the conference
affordable. Presenters will need to register and pay for the conference,
which costs $120 per person, including breakfasts and lunches during the
conference. We hope to give a $10-15 courtesy discount to all presenters but
are still evaluating our budget and can not guarantee this discount at this
time.
Instructions for Completing Presentation Application:
* Please answer all questions on both sides of the form
* If co-presenting, please attached pertinent information for each presenter
* If proposing more than one presentation, copy and complete the
