Personally, I think that the "Volkswagen Collaborative/Cohousing Home" design
team would work together on the Web or via a bulletin board approach using
software such as FirstClass.
I am sure there are people in this conference would would know the better way
to do it.

As well, people from other conferences could join the design team---there is
a least one conference on neighborhood design, there are conferences on green
issues, conferences on children's play environments (I expect) etc. etc.
etc.. 
Perhaps the design team would get together and meet face to face at some
point.
