I just signed on this list a few days ago, so I'll introduce myself. My name is Kay Vogt and I live in the Western suburbs outside of Chicago. I am interested in cohousing and community building group processes, and believe that the biggest challenge to cohousing is the interpersonal side. I am about 95% done with a degree in clinical psychology, have a small private practice, and one corporate consulting client who is interested in building a psychological sense of community. My dissertation was a study of two community buidling groups, Scott PEck's FCE model, and William Polowniaks TLC model. Trying to figure out if "chaos" in the group leads to a later sense of psychological community, i.e. does the process have to be so damn difficult. I presented a paper on community building in Russia this year at the 3rd annual conference on conflict resolution. The paper was on a group process called "Oekos" a way of facilitating small groups that I learned in Greece. It's kind of like a 12 step group without a focus on specific problems or issues. Just a way of sharing who you are and what is going on with you at any particular time. A nice way of creating and maintaining empathy for each other.. . . I'm not sure what else to say. Current interests are group processes such as Owen's Open Space technology, Focusing, EMDR, and consensus techniques. Thanks for reading this. Bye for now. Kay
