I have just completed writing a paper on how coho is uniquely appropriate to help deal with the difficulties of certain chronic illnesses like the one I have--chronic fatigue syndrome. The version of the paper that's been accepted for publication by the major national journal devoted to this condition is relatively short but it lays out the "argument." It will be developed into a longer piece for the purpose of seeking funding and other support for, hopefully, establishing a coho community either of people well and ill or exclusively of the ill. (It lays out the pros and cons each.) Might anyone on the list be interested in helping with getting this off the ground? Or bringing it to the conference in Boulder (it is in Boulder, is it not--I've been so busy I've stopped reading the list for several weeks and even realize I could be writing this right in the middle of the conference!). I've got lots of ideas. I have some people willing to work via email on the project, and some people local to my city (Phila) with experience in housing. But I felt that someone deeply into and knowledgeable about coho, which I'm not, who might be interested could join with us and be an enormous help. I would be glad to send a copy of the draft of the paper that's been accepted. The longer paper, appropriate for an audience of people who don't have a chronic illness (most of us were formerly highly, highly fit and very active before we got this condition) and thus usually don't know what it's like (I sure didn't when fully well and very active), is not fully ready. It needs a tiny bit more work. I don't have the time or energy to just circulate it even by email to anyone and everyone. I just want to do so to anyone serious about the possibility of working on this. Many thanks. Judith Wisdom wisdom [at] pobox.upenn.edu I can email or fax it to anyone who writes me about it and is interested.
