Mac asked about why we require option holders to provide a certain =
number of hours of labor, yet don't require members to. This was a long =
and interesting discussion within the committee that decided this. We =
were influenced by two other local cohousing groups who had some bad =
feelings around unit selection due to seniority of payment. In one =
case, a person paid up their money and did NO OTHER CONTRIBUTION to the =
community development, while another person who paid slightly later and =
put in major contributions of time and effort got bumped during lot =
selection by the person who had seniority but had put in little energy =
and time. This caused some very bad feelings and when I talked about =
this issue to members of that community this was one thing they would =
have liked to have done differently. So essentially we decided that if =
option holders wanted to keep lot picking seniority they had to =
contribute hours of time as well as put money down. It seems to be =
working so far with no complaints. =20

As to my email and the sorry state of the equal signs, my email account =
has been moved to a new product we are developing and so I get all the =
joys of using a beta software product, which includes currently =
inflicting all internet readers of my email with equal signs at the end =
of each line. Hopefully as the product matures it will lose its =
inferiority complex which causes it to remark at the end of every line =
that it is equal.
