Hello. We are a couple with a small child (and one on the way) who are hoping to start or join a small cohousing group in the Pacific Northwest. Our vision is of six to twelve households living in simple, but independent homes on something like 100 acres of beautiful rural/semi-rural land. We envision a large community building for common meals, conversation, music, childcare, homeschooling, and other community life. Our goals are to live lightly upon the land, to create a safe, joyful, nurturing environment for children, and to engage in real community with other adults with similar values. We hope to live in a relatively self-sufficient manner with a large organic garden/orchard, and to construct low-impact, housing utilizing sustainable technologies. We are about to make a trip through Northern California and Oregon, exploring some candidate areas. Starting October 22nd, we plan to drive through: Ukiah, CA; Arcata/Eureka, CA; Grants Pass, OR; Ashland, OR; Roseburg, OR; Eugene, OR; Albany, OR; Corvallis, OR; Hood River, OR; Bend, OR; and LaGrande, OR; If there is anyone in or near these areas who is interested in contacting us, we would love to hear from you as soon as possible. We are also willing to consider other areas in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, or New Mexico. Thanks much.
