I suggest that "Rebuilding Community in America" is the new cohousing book
you are looking for, in that it does go beyond the focus of the mainstay
"CoHousing" McCamant & Durrett book.

I would suggest that you need both - each has strengths and insight to add
to the evolving discussion.

"Rebuilding America" is written by Ken Norwood and Kathleen Smith, and is
available from the publisher, Shared Living Resource Center, 2375 Shattuck
Ave., Berkeley, CA 94704 (510) 548-6608 ISBN: 0-9641346-2-4

That being said, I have just signed a contract to write what I think is *one
of* the next cohousing books, (likely to be) called "Building Neighbours",
an investigation of the concept of neighbourhood with an eye to suggesting
ways we can make them stronger entities in all of lives, starting from
saying hello, up to building cohousing, and all the steps in between.

It is supposed to be ready to publish by June 1996. We'll see.

P.S. I am announcing this here only because of the context of the question
about a new coho book. I have already downloaded a few comments and
thoughts on this issue from this list - it's such a great discussion we have
here - but *WILL* be contacting the author(s) for permission if these ideas
find their way, in any way, shape or form, into the book.
