AMEN ! The amount of work it took to get Southside built has prevented me from enthusiastically advocating it for most people. For too many of us it was the main thing we did for 5 years. That means we cut back on our participation in school, church, politics, etc for a very long time. Years ago I belonged to a "food conspiracy" where we were able to buy good quality food for very little money. The only problem was, we had to spend endless hours making lists, picking things up, delivering, sorting, storing, returning mistakes, etc. Our cheap food was horribly expensive in terms of time and energy. I am now very willing to let Lucky or the Natural Food Coop have the extra money and I will keep my time and energy available for other things. Someday I too hope we can have hundreds of cohousing groups without so much work by each individual.
