First I want to apologise for not making this announcement sooner
but in the few days since I found out about the "DOWN SOON" part
I have not gotten around to the carefully worded statement that
I've intended to make...

The Cohousing-L mailing list will be moving to a new listserver
soon.  But it will be shutting down at uci.com earlier than expected
and will be not operating for a while in between. The start up date
is not currently known but will be announced to all current subscribers.

The list will go DOWN about the end of January.
My best guess is that it will be back in mid to late February.

While it is down, I suggest using direct mail to continue discussions 
and use the cohousing Web site.  Learn how to use the Web if you have 
not gotten around to it!        Cohousing web site URL:

Maybe check out some other lists.  If you have some urgent 
announcement, write me.  I'll have the ability (and probably will) 
send out a few messages by ad hoc means.

After the move the list will have THREE new addresses (for commands,
messages and the list manager ** ).  They will be announced when the
revival of the list is announced. (The old addresses will give
an informative message about the move.)  You will NOT need to 
subscribe to the list after the move.  All subscribers as of the 
shut down will be subscribers of the moved list automatically.

** One of the changes after the move is that all list management email
should go thru an "alias" such as owner-cohousing-L so that if someone
else is managing the list the messages are routed properly.  I'll
still be managing the list but this provision will make vacations
simpler for example.  Note that my addresses have already changed
some.
