While a some plans (that can wait) are yet to be completed;
the following have been accomplished:

1) The move to Minneapolis Telecommunication Network Internet site
   and list server.  (Uses an updated version of the same software
   we used at uci so most command syntax etc is unchanged).
      MTN is the cable access organization here and it has a small
   (two staff member Internet project called the River project).
   The cable operation is much larger and quite compatible.
2) established our own domain (cohousing.org)
   The domain is the part of the address to the right of the "@".
3) new shorter URL for our web site at our own domain (www.cohousing.org)
4) TWO new archives sites at MTN and CSF (Communications for a Sustainable
   Future at Univ. of Colorado in Boulder) The CSF archives give us
   a) a redundancy / backup which can be actively used
   b) additional exposure, to a more academic constituency
      (check out our neighbors at CSF (link on our page there or
       http://www.csf.colorado.edu)
   c) enhanced format of the recent 3 months archives in Hypermail
      format which offers several ways of organizing the menu
      (date, author, thread).  Archives are searchable.
5) Fred's personal address has been removed from all list documentation
   to give him back a life separate cohousing-L (get all the list related
   traffic separated from personal mail).  Fred continues to manage
   the list for the foreseeable future but this change will facilitate
   passing off list management functions to another person on a temporary
   or even permanent basis if the need should arise.  Therefore even tho
   many of you know my personal address (tho I coincidentally have started
   using a shorter form of it that is now available), PLEASE use the
   owner-cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org address for list manager related
   messages.
6) some additional reorganization that facilitates list management
7) updated introductory files

I PREFER that you do not send comments about the changes to the list.
Send them to me at owner-cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org . Personal
messages to me at my personal address are ok.  I'll post a summary of
the reaction to the changes in a week or so.

All subscribers of Cohousing-L as of Jan 31, 1996 are subscribers at the
new site, except those who requested to be dropped while we were down.
(If I missed anyone try to unsub yourself are write me again - details
below).  You may now resume sending commands (TO THE PROPER ADDRESS !! :)
to maintain your subscription.

As a separate message I'm posting the updated Welcome message that is
sent ot new subscribers.  PLEASE read it and save it as suggested.
There have been changes including the addresses for commands and
messages to the list.

I will post a separate message reviewing the subject lines of messages
posted in the weeks before the list went down.
