EcoVillage at Ithaca's first neighborhood (1/3 moved in) uses a shared hot
water heating system - 4 gas boilers located in "energy centers" supply heat
for the 30 units (15 duplexes). Homes are passive solar, super-insulated,
air-tight. The energy centers are a convenient place to "plug in" renewable
energy sources as they become affordable to us.
