I believe it is common knowledge that houses in a cohousing community
usually cost more than the same size house in a non-cohousing community.
But does anyone out there have any figures on the amount of money they've
saved by *not* having to buy a lawnmover, snowblower, food processor,
second car, home security device, or whatever that they would have needed
if they had lived in a regular suburban subdivision/urban apartment
building?
As a corollary to this question, has anyone who has moved into cohousing
found that they had to get *rid* of a lot of stuff--not simply because
their house was too small--but because they changed their lifestyle once
they moved into cohousing or because what they needed was already available
in the common house.
Thanks!
