Hello, I'd like to introduce myself to the group. My name is Paul Milne, and I'm a member (or am I? We haven't got a lot of these issues sorted out yet <g>) of an embryonic cohousing group in Edinburgh, Scotland. We don't really have a name yet, just Cohousing 2000 cuz that's when we hope to move in, but nobody in the group uses that particular moniker. Our group was started by some folks from Community Self-Build Scotland, Ian Walker and Robert Chalmers to be exact, and Ian is going to be visiting some groups in Washington this summer, so we can get some first-hand info about some things going on in the States. I'm not sure if anyone is planning a trip to Denmark at this stage... We've had 3 meetings, and we're all just starting to get to know each other, tho' there's not nearly enough people involved at the present (I don't think anyway...). At the present we're working through issues like values/ideology (hate that word!) membership and who's going to organise the childcare for the meetings. We're feeling our way into all this, tho' with some guidance from the Book, and from som docs downloaded from the Co-Housing Network site. SO... Does anyone know of any other cohousing groups in the UK, cuz we don't. And, I'll be seeing you... -- Paul Milne (paulm [at] mhie.ac.uk) 4D Developer Moray House Institute of Education, Edinburgh, Scotland "I learn by going where I have to go." --Roethke
