Someone asked about experience with being a foster parent in cohousing, and Joanie responded that cohousing might be too weird for the powers that be to allow children to be placed there. At Pioneer Valley we have several foster children, two of whom (sisters) were placed with a lesbian couple. Actually they are part of a good story--two more sisters from the same family were placed with a family across the street, associate members of the community. So, in the Pioneer valley area, at least, being in cohousing is not a drawback for getting a foster child. Rebecca
