Ann, 

   Thanks so much for organizing this.  It's a great idea.

I'd like to urge folks around the country to organize their own
local events to participate as a group.  With a good "speaker phone"
arrangement ** a group of folks could listen in comfortably.
And one phone (with "mute" capability) could allow some questions.

Being able to publicize a meeting with something like
"Katie McCamant will give live comments and answer questions"
could greatly help turn out folks for your meeting.  Be prepared to
announce followup meetings for those who want to get down to specific
planning.
  
How many groups have already participated?



**  It would be good if we had information that would allow a near 'turn
key' i.e. easy to setup fo such an arrangement.  If anyone knows of
figures out a good system that can be replicated please share it with
the list.  If you'd like to discuss specfics, email me.  A few thoughts...

I called Radio Shack and inquired about a phone pick up that could 
be fed into a stereo amplifier.  They had a pickup with a mike level
output but not a line level; the latter would be easier to use.
I haven't gotten into their store to investigate further.
