This discussion has been very enlightening and shouldn't be deep-sixed because it isn't PC. I must say that the men who have been most enthusiastic about cohousing are those who do NOT have 9-7 jobs, six days a week. It is hard to contemplate coming home to anything other than four blank walls when you work these kinds of jobs. And some of the men who are enthusiastic and the wives are not, are from households where the wives work the 9-7 jobs. I've done a lot of thinking about what might make cohousing interesting to these workers. And about how much time and planned expense has been taken for the common house kitchen compared to the workshop which will be built later and has no budget. It is a square on the site plan--at the far end. Sharon Villines, Who has moved from Manhattan the movie set to Florida the postcard. Synergy Cohousing, Delray Beach, FL http://www.cohousing.net
