I like this thread and would like to see more discussion. In Florida we are required to remove all non-native plants--including a wonderful, very tall, wall of whispering pines. They are invasive and not wind-resistant which means they are a danger in a hurricane. Several of us are interested in xeriscape but others want at least some lawn.
