May 18, 1999 Dear Friends, We have great news about Cornerstone Cohousing! After months of intensive work, the community is proceeding with our plans to build a Cohousing Community on Harvey Street in North Cambridge. As you may know, we purchased the land last November. Since then we have found a new architect with innovative ideas about how to get our project built at the right price. We are working with the neighbors to find joint solutions to areas of concern. Now is the time to join us if you want to be part of this exciting process. Have you ever wanted to help design your own home? Do you like to plan events that help bring a community together? Are you good at fund-raising? Bookkeeping? Web pages? Outreach to the wider community? There's lots to do, and the promise of a great cohousing community at the end of it all. We have a number of units still unclaimed, from small flats to 3-bedroom townhouses. Don't wait till they are all taken! Note: decisions regarding the mix of units (that is, how many of each size) are being made in the next several weeks. If you are seriously interested in cohousing, now is the time to become involved! Otherwise, there is no guarantee that the unit size you desire will be available. Come learn more about Cornerstone: * Thursday, May 27, 7 - 9 pm - North Cambridge Senior Center, 2050 Massachusetts Avenue, just above Porter Square. * Saturday, June 5, 3 - 5 pm - Central Square Library, 45 Pearl Street, Cambridge (just two blocks from Central Square T-stop; parking available in garage at corner of Pearl and Green Streets). Please RSVP to Rosemary Kennedy at (617) 491-2238, to let us know if you are interested in learning more, and which orientation you plan to attend.
