The Cohousing in Denmark tour, scheduled for June 27 - July 3, has shaped up nicely. At the moment (June 4), we have seven people signed up, so we can take up to three more. We will be visiting about eight cohousing communities in the Copenhagen area, leaving time to also go sight-seeing, shopping, and just relaxing in this most cosmopolitan, urbane, civilized city. For more information, call Tom Pendleton, organizer, at 202-265-1418 (but do so quickly, as time is running out, and he is leaving for other tours on June 13). Meanwhile, we are already thinking about a similar tour in 2000. This would be in The Netherlands, which probably has the second greatest density of cohousing communities of any nation. Called "centraal wooning", or central living, they have developed in a different series than those in Denmark. As one would expect of the Dutch, the architecture can be dramatic - or very simple. As the country with the best public transit system in the world (though the Swiss might object to that statement), it is easy to get around there, so we will try to cover a wide range of location and community types. The date would be earlier in the year - either earlier in June or even in May (to catch the last of the tulip blooming season). Now is the time to influence the planning for next year. Any thoughts or ideas can be sent to Tom at his e-mail address (tomtours [at] netscape.net) or at his PO Box 15671, Washington DC 20003. (This may change after his move-in to Takoma Village Cohousing next year, but that may not be before the tour!) -- _______________________ Best -- Ann Zabaldo Zabaldo [at] earthlink.net "If you want to have good ideas, first have lots of ideas, then some of them will be good."
