Do successful cohousing projects have a historic path in common? ie. which
motive works best? (from p. 205 in McCamant & Durrett's Cohousing)
- the family angle ("Get Real in Alameda")
- an ecological focus ("Ecocity Berkeley")
- an can't afford economic focus ("Oakland Artists & Writers United", can't
afford otherwise)
- an amenities focus ("Live it Up in Hercules"; we can afford more if...)
Also, does the environment affect the success of the project? Is a suburban
project more vulnerable than a rural one? If the place you live in offers
work for both, does that slow turnover?
