Daniel Quinn's ideas are not utopian, but about having the best type of human culture possible. And that's more or less what we've had for 99.7% of human time on this planet. It's mainly only the last 10,000 years that have been #%$#%@ up. Of course 6 billion of us can't go back to that 99.7%, which is why his new book is called **Beyond** Civilization. You might not have a clue what I'm talking about, but in any case, y'all should read BC or start first with two or three of the other books. I think a lot of what I'm yearning for, that I believe cohousing will provide some of, is what Quinn is talking about. I just wrote a review of BC for a newsletter. It was positive. At amazon.com, last I checked, the average review rating was *****. Check out the Quinn web sites starting with <http://www.beyondcivilization.com/> and explore the ishmael site especially. <COMMERCIAL MESSAGE> Feel free to order the books from my web site at <http://members.home.net/garyes/> </COMMERCIAL MESSAGE> On Thu, 28 Oct 1999 19:10:18 -0500, brian [at] trillium-hollow.org wrote: >What list about community/utopia would be complete without the books by >Daniel Quinn: > >Ishmael >The Story of B >My Ishmael > >And his latest: Beyond Civilization > >Brian Setzler >Trillium Hollow >Portland, OR -- "Don't go where the path leads.
