Someone wrote: "around $150 per month. Based on> my search of the archives, this is extremely high." Read this and rejoice, oh ye who live outside the SF Bay Area. Our monthly condo fees at Doyle Street range from about $180 to $250 per month per unit. In Old Oakland, they will range from just under $300 to over $350. And this is without earthquake insurance. (We do have it at Doyle St.) Swan's Market is an historic building (1917 is considered old here) and we have exposed metal trusses and a historical facade to maintain. The level of our reserves is written into our CC and Rs and we are supposed to have a reserve study to assure its adequacy every three years, I believe. Anyhow, many folks in the Swan's project will be paying $1800 or more per month for their mortgages and condo fees combined, and that doesn't include real estate taxes which will bring their monthly expenses easily over $2000. I, for one would like to see some portion of the Homeowner's Association fees calculated on the number of people in each household When these fees are calculated in the two projects mentioned above, it is done on a straight square -foot basis. This unfairly discriminates against single adult households like me. There are two other units here exactly like mine; one both are occupied by two working adults. One household has one child, the other none. Joani Blank (you've read my credentials/essentials one too many times.....right?) >
