Wasatch Commons has a gas fireplace, operated by a wall switch, in the wall between the dining room and sitting room, opening into both rooms. On the sitting room side there is a tile hearth at sit-on height. The table closest to the fireplace is usually the first filled during meals. Small meetings tend to be held either at that table in the dining room, or sitting on the hearth and in chairs pulled up close in the sitting room. Salt Lake has serious winter air pollution, with weeks of "no burn" days some winters, so wood fireplaces aren't practical. Kay Argyle Wasatch Commons in Salt Lake City, where the usual winter temperatures range from 10 to 30 F. P.S. Sent this to the person asking the question and realized afterward it hadn't gone to the list ... so in case others might also be interested in fireplaces, here it is.
