For anyone interested in the thread on accounting programs for
cohousing, I think the most appropriate program I've seen and used is
NetLedger. It is accessible only via the internet web at

http://www.netledger.com

In other words, you don't install it on your computer, you just use your
browser. It is a Quickbooks clone for the most part. It is free for
non-commercial and single user mode, but of course you need to have
internet access. The advantages should be obvious: anyone in your group
that is given an access code can work on it from any browser on any
platform, whether PC Windows, Mac, Linux or whatever. No need to do
regular backups, no installing software or upgrades, and if your CPA
needs some info, no need to print a report and mail it in, just let 'em
look it up from for themselves. You can also run a report and send the
output directly to email to everyone on a list. If you are already using
Quickbooks, NetLedger has the feature of being able to upload your QB
data directly from your machine so you don't need to start over. I have
several of my clients using it with nothing but raves. It might not be
appropriate for many business as is the case with Quickbooks, but for
light duty use typical of Cohousing groups it makes a lot of sense.
