or

so I can better prepare

Children over the age of 2:
I recommend getting a babysitter. If that's impossible, you can play with
your kid(s) outdoors but please know they must be supervised at all
times--rotating supervision with others in the group might work. The
meeting will take place indoors with potluck beginning at 12:30 outdoors

Please arrive on time and bring a potluck dish (organic appreciated)

Schedule:
9:30 am coffee/tea/bagels/schmoozing
10:00-10:30 group intros
10:30-11:00 intro to retrofit coho with emphasis on East Bay
11:00-11:45 presentation and questions by realtor Diane Ohlsson
11:45-12:30 how to form a coho group/what are criteria and next steps
12:30- 1:45 potluck lunch and schmoozing

I'll be sending a profile form to those that rsvp to fill out before
meetin.

For those ready to move forward in the process:
If you haven't contacted a mortgage broker yet, we recommend Beth Hoffman
at Alternative Mortgage Sources at 415-861-5708. She can visit you on
either side of the Bay and give you an estimate of the potential loan you
can qualify for in a matter of minutes over the phone. You probably need
to have at least 10% down and 5% for closing costs.

If you don't have money for a downpayment, I'll have info on the First Time
Homebuyers Program in Oakland or think about folks you could ask for a loan
or gift.

I would also recoomend the book: _How to Buy and Sell A House in Calif._
by Nolo Press if you're brand new to the house-hunting process. And be
sure to log onto
http://www.cohousing.org
and
http://freenet.msp.mn.us/~fholson/cohousing/retrofit
for lots of info.
