-----Original Message----- From: cohousing-l [at] freedom2.mtn.org Yeah, storage space is important. I'm also trying to figure out what to do with my library of over 10,000 books. Personally, I'd love to see a common house library become a common feature, I'm willing to share lots of my books, and I'll bet other people feel the same way. -- Matt Books are a major lifestyle anchor! When I decided to move to cohousing I also decided to unload the vast majority of my books! We do have a library in Cambridge Cohousing so I was able to deliver boxes and boxes to the common house without actually "disposing" of them. Of course, many other households did the same and we ended up with far more books than space in the library. However, our dedicated Library Committee sorted them all out, got rid of duplicates and unsuitable books and organized them in the Library itself and also in a bunch of "satellites" scattered around the community. Being urban we have three buildings with flats in them and common halls which accomodate smaller libraries such as "Detective Storeis and Science Fiction," "Gardening and How To Books," "Biographies" and of course there is a selection in the Children's room. It was a bit of a wrench initially but now I'm used to just having a couple of hundred books in my house and I love being able to wander around the community and pick up a bunch of great books to bring home and browse or read! It can be done. Rowenahc
