I keep hoping we will get new tables - our current tables are long and wide (I think 38 or more inches wide, probably 7 feet long ) and that seems to wide for me. It is less of a problem now that most of our children are older, but it is too wide when the noise level increases. (Yes, I know, we can work on noise control too). I will try to remember to measure ours, and repost . We also have some round tables, and similarly, you cannot talk quietly to anyone but your immediate neighbor at these (they seat 6, I think), when there are lots of folks. Someday, I will go look for smaller tables - no-one else seems concerned enough to do research- I would lean toward 2 1/2 feet wide, (we rarely serve family style so few serving dishes). We have some folding tables we've used on the porch, that are narrow, 2 or 2 1/2 feet, and they work. Judy
