Hi Diane: The Disneytown and other planned communities meet this definition. So does a retirement community. I think to get closer to coho you need to say something about how the residents are involved in designing, building & running the place in a cooperative manner. -Jim, New View, Acton MA. Remember a couple of months ago when I wrote in about my adventures in being invited to attend the Roxbury Master Plan Workshop as a consultant? Well, the Boston Redevelopment Authority actually wrote up cohousing in the "Quality of Life" workshop notes and they came up with the following definition: "Cohousing is an approach to designing and building housing in a form that is organized physically and socially to foster communication and cooperation among its residents." Just thought I'd throw that out there and see if people agree with it or not. Any comments? --Diane(:^] @@ coho [at] world.std.com @@ @@@@ Diane Simpson http://jpcohousing.org @@@@ | | P.O.Box 420,Boston, MA 02130-0004 617-522-2209 | | | "| ORIENTATION:6 P.M.JANUARY 28--BOWDITCH LODGING HOUSE |" | | V| 82 Green Street:1 block up from Green Street Station |V | +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
