Title: TCN Conference and Earth Day
Dear Friend of Cohousing,
Are you aware that The Cohousing Network is hosting the fifth annual North American Cohousing Conference this July 20-22, 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley?
This will be a great opportunity for anyone who is hoping to create, join or improve on an existing cohousing neighborhood to learn how to do it and to meet others seeking to do the same. Before the official start of the conference, there will be the popular "Getting it Built" workshop on Friday, July 20, as well as a comprehensive tour of nine cohousing communities in Northern California.
The conference will also have excellent presentations for people who are far along in the development process or have already moved in to their community. Now that there are over 1,700 households already living in cohousing neighborhoods, there will be a day and a half of workshops from the most experienced cohousing residents and professionals in North America addressing the conference theme "Living in Cohousing: The First Ten Years.
We are pleased to announce that Eric Utne, founder of the Utne Reader, has agreed to be our featured speaker for the opening session on Friday night, July 20. In addition, we have received confirmation that Jan Gudmand-Hoyer the "Grandfather of Danish Cohousing" will also be a special presenter and will bring us up to date on the next generation of cohousers who have grown up in cohousing developments in Denmark. Plus, we'll have a Saturday night dinner and auction, and a special session on Monday, July 23, for cohousing professionals to share experiences, resources and ideas.
We have arranged housing on campus, childcare at a minimal price, and are providing several meals as part of your registration, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Also, if you are not a member of TCN, your registration fee will include a full year's membership. Until May 15, registration for TCN Members will only be $195. A limited number of partial scholarships will also be available.
To learn more, please visit the TCN website at http://www.cohousing.org and check the conference link.
We will also be creating a special button which can be placed on your group's web site to automatically link your website to the TCN conference page. Additional details will be set out shortly.
Finally, for those of you who are having booth or tables at Earth Day celebrations this weekend, TCN would be pleased to send you a bunch of postcards with 2 day delivery. Please just give us a call at 303-413-9227.
Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you in Berkeley for a great conference this July!
Sincerely,
Neshama Abraham Paiss
