One dynamic that I have seen is that people who are moving from a large single family home to a duplex/triplex model cohousing project is that they often buy an extra bedroom, to ensure they have enough space. These "bedrooms" get turned into offices, guest rooms, and sometimes just libraries or other storage. So because it says bedroom on a plan, does not mean it gets used that way. Over time, peoples perceived needs change, and they end up wishing for a different size space. This goes both ways, some folks wish they had more room, other wish they had less. Until you have lived with a commonhouse, which has common facilities, it is sometimes hard to really commit to moving your personal office stuff to a community office. This is often true of washers and driers. In fact, lack of ability to have private facilitates is sometimes a filter which causes people to opt out of groups sometimes.
