Okay, thumbs or fingers.

Why not ask for all the yeas, all the nays, all the undecideds?

Why not just ask "Do we have general agreement?" and if there is no
objection, you do.

I would like to use this procedure in announcing all kinds of decisions on
email so everything does not have to be presented in meetings.

Put the proposal-- expected outcomes, rational, etc. on email and on the
bulletin board with a deadline for objections to be registered or discussion
requested. Unless a team decision/recommendation receives objections or
requests for discussion, the team goes ahead.

We stopped using thumbs but some objected because they liked voting "yes",
the other direction of silence, being too passive.

Sharon.
Who refuses to do fingers or thumbs because she thinks it is too much like
voting, she doesn't want to sit there with her hand in the air while the
facilitator "counts", and as a result will someday finish her crocheted
curtains.
