At Liberty Village, we have put together a binder of all the decisions
that were made in the past, chronologically. Then we wrote a list of
one-liner versions, such as "Decided to sell the Manor House" with the
date, not including any decisions that are no longer important, such as
all the decisions we made about the Manor House before selling it. This
gives us a history of the community without having to search back
through minutes on a computer. It gives an easy way to look up a
decision quickly at a meeting, since I bring the book to the meetings.

Now that we have some people living in the community, we have another
binder of Operating Agreements, which will be a living, changing list of
all the agreements about living with each other. I am writing a summary
of them. We will give new people the two summaries - one of the history
and one of the operating agreements. If they see something on the
list,e.g. email protocol, that they want to read in its entirety, they
can go to the binder and read it. Martie Weatherly, Liberty Village
