As has been demonstrated on this list, it's much more difficult to build
community among people who all like the idea of cohousing than it is to
build community among people who all are committed to the process of
building community.

To which Stone Curvin' Martha replies:

Oooo-boy, are you playin' our song!

We've certainly found the above to be true at The Curves. Have had quite a
few members of the Cohousing Fan Club come our way in the past four months.
However, these folks aren't the same people who are putting up the money to
make the payments on the land we have in escrow.

Gradually, they're leaving the group. Some are going away mad. Others are
just going away. They're realizing that success in cohousing requires two
four-letter words:

H-A-R-D W-O-R-K

And they're also finding out that it requires another five-letter word:

M-O-N-E-Y

On the other hand, we have a very committed core group of five people.
(Oops. I forgot to mention Alice's dog, Jasmine. So make that five people
and a dog.) And we hardcores are going to find others who will make this
thing fly.

Just watch us...

Adios from Tucson,
Martha Retallick
