I certainly think so.

I've run into some conflicts in the past about running cable. It seems
that too many people think it's just for computer networking. Ummm, no.
It's also for running telephone lines and cable/satellite/master antenna
distribution. Also given the different ways people arrange their living
space, more than one drop per room is often a good idea.

I've been doing lots of work on my house recently, including running a
bundle of (4) Cat5 and (2) Quad Shield RG-6 to at least one location in
every bedroom and to the garage. I'm also planning on ripping off the
crappy Masonite siding on my house and replacing it with Hardiplank.
While the walls are opened up, I'm planning on running 1.5" conduit to at
least six locations downstairs.

Why did I pick that particular combination of cables? First, the Leviton
QuikPort system has six way faceplates that fit onto an ordinary duplex
box. Second, cable is cheap and the labour to run multiple cables is only
slightly more than to run one or two. Third, since I'm looking for a
roomate, a reasonable configuration could be a telephone line, a desktop
computer, a work provided laptop and cable TV. Since that uses up four of
the connections, there's still one Cat5 and one coax available.
