I read an interesting article about a person who was curious about what happens 
to the tons and tons
of rubber that is worn off tires every year.

Well it seems that tire rubber is inert.  It just decomposes into non toxic 
compounds.  If you stop
and think about it if tire rubber was toxic there wouldn't be a plant alive 
within a hundred yards
of any freeway.

He also found that the air in the tire migrates out at the rate of 2 lbs per 
month and it is very
important that you do not introduce any water vapor into the tire when filling 
it.  It seems that as
the water vapor migrates out of the tire it can rust the steel cord. Not good.

It is still black.
