There has been a lot of interesting things said about TV. I just wanted to add what might be a slightly different perspective. (well - if not I apologize) I haven't had a TV in my home for several years now. I admit, I've debated it seriously now that I am a mom of two young children but so far we still make do with videos. :-) Anyway - the reason is partly because I *do* think that it could be easy to slide into addictive behavior (or perhaps apathetic behavior is more accurate) if it was in my home. It's part of our "who has the time!?" motto. There is so much else to do! But... I've been long looking forward to gathering in the commonhouse around the big screen TV (or bigger than our 17 incher anyway) with a big group of like minded people and watching British Comedy, or some History documentary, or Babylon 5, old Star Trek... and dissecting the plot holes, analyzing the characters, deconstructing the moral dilemmas, explaining away the scientific technobabble nonsense... you get the idea. This is a favroite comfortable, relaxing, fun experience with friends that can be just the right kind of shared activity when you have had a hard week sometimes. Besides, I've been part of some really awesome discussions that stemmed from watching even really BAD B movies (a secret weakness of mine) (oops - guess not so secret now!) ;-) Ok - back to other topics! mew MaryEllen Wessels / Hopeful Romantics mew [at] mewsic.com http://www.mewsic.com (978) 345-6110 _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.communityforum.net/mailman/listinfo/cohousing-l
