I have two (initial) questions I'd like to put before you. 1. What kinds of initial information would you suggest we use or that you found helpful to give to people interested but new to the cohousing concept and wanting to learn more? We are offering some websites for them to visit (mostly "The Cohousing Network" and "The Intentional Communities Assoc." plus a few links we've enjoyed) and we have, at present, two copies of the McCamant & Durrett's Cohousing book and two copies of Communites magazine for people to read. We're thinking we need more. We believe people need to be proactive about learning but want help them enough to get launched. Plus we'll need handouts, etc., later when we get serious about marketing. and the other question ... 2. What can you tells us about community street appeal? We are in a very conservative area that--while very ripe for Cohousing--it is already causing some knitted brows in the community. Besides wanting to creating something that will be beautiful, joyful and enhancing I particularly feel the need for us to really pull this off well. Real well. To create a place that can make people feel good and a city proud simply by driving past. We'd like to reduce road noise from one busy street but I'm concerned that fences, birms (sp?) or walls will feel like an afront to the neighborhood and make us seem something set apart. (The other street is less of a concern.) How do we balance the need for the community's safety with the desire to be more open to the surrounding community? Thanks much for your help. joy in all things, Bobi Wilson Kennewick, WA _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.communityforum.net/mailman/listinfo/cohousing-l
