Tonight RoseWind's common house saw a "first". Having obtained the
group's permission to use the dining room, some of our members donated a
gourmet dinner as a silent-auction item at a local charity fund raiser.
They promised 5 couples a lovely dinner out at our common house, and
presumably the local Land Trust made at least a couple hundred dollars on
it. Then, this February 15, the Valentine's dinner was held. The great
room was lovely (with extra furniture stashed in the rec room), with
tablecloths, fresh flower arrangements on each table, candles, etc. A
portable screen partitioned the kitchen from direct view.

At least a dozen people participated by cooking or cleaning or loaning
silverware, salt shakers, etc etc. The menu was exquisite, down to such
beautiful butter pats that I had to look twice to see what they were! The
guests brought the wine of their choice (getting us off the hook for any
liability).

Pre-dinner piano music (live) and dessert music by our classical
guitarist.
Some fairly influential people were among the guests, too, which didn't
hurt as PR for what a nice place we are...

I don't know that we'll do it again - it was a lot of work - but it was
so very lovely, and supported one of our favorite local "causes".
