Enjoying the lurk here. Might note that nature has arranged killing on a scale we can only dream of. Our efforts when looked at on any but our human scale are trivial. (edit) Ormond Otvos, Berkeley Ormond, do you have any sources or personal expertise here? Because most genuine authorities (for example, Stephen Jay Gould) have confirmed that homo sapiens is currently wiping out species at the fastest rate ever recorded, even topping that of the Cambrian extinction. Citing Gould, I note that he personally argues that we should not try to preserve all species. He does note that, at the rate we're going, we'll be left with very few animalia above the level of insects. Debate re-segregation if you wish, but please provide some evidence to accompany your assertions.
