I saw the first PBS show on affluenza in Seattle when I was there for 
the national cohousing conference in 1997.  It featured a segment 
about On Going Cohousing in Portland Oregon and some of their efforts
to consume less and live better.   I remember they were
using gray water reuse in their garden.
