> Elizabeth Stevenson wrote that the history of people getting into cohousing just for the affordability is not good-it's dismal, in fact. In the recent Houses 2002 edition of Fine Home Building (http://www.taunton.com/finehomebuilding/pages/sph005_toc.asp ) one article describes how in inner-city Atlanta, a middle class home creates a positive osmosis alongside its low-income neighbors. Similarly, I can imagine that middle class cohousing can fit comfortably alongside low-income neighbours. I'm hoping to introduce a cohousing proposal in the redevelopment of a run-down semi-retirement village. Rather than get people into cohousing for affordability, I'm hoping that cohousing will enable socio-economic diversification. Any guesses as challenges ahead?
