We added tectum after the fact to our high ceiling, with great effort and
time consumption. It looks fine, and we have a truly beautiful common house.
I personally would recommend that you seriously consider using tectum. We
investigated every alternative, and we have some deeply involved building
professionals in our community. Tectum was the best material for this
purpose.

I personally have found common meals to be too chaotic for me after a
stressful day at work, dealing with the din of young children who are active
learners. I want quiet and intimate conversation which is not interrupted.
So the tectum doesn't provide that. But it has really helped with the
reverberation of sound waves, so that people at least do not go away with
ringing ear drums.

I highly recommend it BEFORE construction.
