Re: Homesteading meets CoHousing

Hello Grace

Leland Baker here. I have been exploring the idea of returning to
northern New England for a couple of years now. I have been involved
briefly with Champlain Valley Cohousing in Charlotte and Two Echo
Cohousing in Brunswick ME - to the point of associate membership in each
group and a week long visit to Two Echo last fall - but have decided
against both for various reasons. As opposed to CVC, the Two Echo
decision was difficult. I am also in intermittent contact with the Wild
Onion Cohousing group in Montpelier which is activated primarily by
former CVC members. They plan to build "somewhere between Burlington
and Montpelier".

When I speak of "returning" to northern NE, I began life in 1935 in West
Burke VT but recall little about it as we moved to Massachusetts when I
was three and that's where I grew up and attended college - WPI. I
have twice visited the Northeast Kingdom and it's a special area. As an
adult I have lived in the Rochester NY area, the Philadelphia area, and
since 1970 in the Denver area. I am a core group member - joined in
1991 - and current resident of Highline Crossing Cohousing in Littleton.
My strong preference is to remain in cohousing or similar environment.
I am retired, single, and live with two dogs: Red, a 13 year old
chow/collie and Gal, a 3 year old lab/boxer. I have four children and
nine grandchildren, all living in Colorado except for a grandson in the
Army somewhere in the Middle East and a grand-daughter in college in
Kansas. I have deep roots here and a long distance move obviously
presents conflicts, but in the end I have to live my own life.

Your proposal interests me greatly and you obviously have a specific location in mind. Can you please provide more
information about it and about yourself?

Sincerely,
Leland
