I thought at least a couple of you might be interested in Enertia homes. (I have nothing to do with them, just discovered them after they came up on an alternative construction list.) Enertia sells kits for solid wood homes that use an envelope (and double wall north and south) to reduce heating & cooling needs. These homes are attractive, cost less, and can be owner built. Mind you, the kit is for the shell, with the buyer providing those items they can get from their local building supply such as windows and doors. Then the owner finishes the inside on their own. I've been reading over their site for the past three days, and it just occurred to me today that this might be a good solution to lower housing prices in Cohousing. I think they also mention on their site than when mutliples are purchased they reduce the price. And for those who are concerned with looks, these are attractive homes. And Hans, I know you wouldn't want kits shipped to Australia. ; ) They sell the house plans too. Here's the website: http://www.enertia.com/ Rhea still in Alaska, still thinking about cohousing : ) _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.cohousing.org/cohousing-L
