The Moreno Valley article is great, but part of it reminded me of my utopian first visions. > Residents share >meals... > >"You just show up, wash your plate when you're done, and it's >over," ... I remember first reading about cohousing and it sounded like magic elves did all the work. Gee, you just show up and dinner is on the table, other people watch your kids for you, the landscape is dripping with fruits and nuts and vegetables. Right! I love community and thrive on it - but hasten to advise potential joiners that it's also a bunch of work. Gotta decide the system by which you wash that plate, buy the soap, mop up the drips, take your turn at cooking, shopping, cleaning, organizing, budgeting. In return, we get a lot of social support and amenities.
