Her name is Karen Tiedenmann at the firm Goldfarb & Lipman in Oakland, CA , 510-836-6336. You can tell her I recommended her. Their firm also works with lots on nonprofit housing developers and redevelopment agencies, so they are very familiar with affordable housing issues. Karen has been a real pleasure to work with. I believe that Chris Scott Hanson also had an attorney in Portland that he recommends. Obviously, every state has its own weird laws, so I think it good to have an attorney familiar with your state. But I also think it is useful for any attorney new to cohousing to talk to someone familiar with how others have dealt with the legal issues. Katie Kathryn M. I was wondering if it would be beneficial to have an attorney that has specific experience with cohousing available as a consultant to our local attorney. Does a person like this exist and would we save time and money redesigning the wheel having such a consultant? I would appreciate any thoughts on this matter and any references.
