i'm a new kid on the block

Hi,

I just joined the organization and the listserv. Although i have been
aware of co-housing for years, I never looked into and know only a little
about it. I want to Learn more, to explore, read, interact with others who
know about this co-housing world and to get involved with a
co-housing-in-the-planning communities/group or one that is already an
existing community that is looking for new people.
    I live in San Francisco at the moment (many moments in a row, actually;
i've been here for 27 years), and am going a little nuts with the noise,
crowdedness and absence of grass, trees and open and quiet space, as well
as the isolation/fragmentation/everyone on their own-ness. I'm fifty-four
years old, a woman, sociable/friendly and somewhat of an introvert. I live
alone in a studio apartment in the city and am looking to change that. I
have some history of working and living collectively (during the 60's and
early 70's); I work as collaboratively at my current workplace as possible.
I'm learning about and exploring my inner landscape very deeply; and also
about how this self I call "me" interacts with others. I want the planet to
be a healthier, safer, cleaner, better-cared-for home for each and every
person, animal and plant, and I'm heartbroken, angry (furious!!!), and
despairing about the state of the planet politically, environmentally,
economically, etc. the whole works. Co-housing seems like a one model for
creating a different way of living on the planet. every molecule in the
body of change helps.
I don't know how much to say here in my first post, but I am eager to
start the exploration of what, how, when, where, who and all of that, of
co-housing. So, how do I go about finding planning communities/groups and
existing communities to talk to, visit, etc.?

Thanks for being there,
Sima Schoen
