I was looking at our architecture yesterday and thinking what hulking monsters our fire stairs were and how the two sides are becoming totally non-symmetrical and people have all sorts of stuff hanging from their porches. At first I was in despair of what it will look like soon, and then I realized, yes, it will look like those English streets that are hundreds of years old with pieces and bits of rooms added on and walkways so narrow you have to turn sideways to get through them! It will be nice.
